Hi! I am a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Political Science at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. My research focuses on transnationalism and the social and political effects of migration on sending states, with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa. I am particularly interested in public opinion and behavior and make use of a wide range of survey data. Most recently, I conducted a multinational survey of Arab migrants to examine how the conditions of their country of residence affect their political attitudes and their relationships with family and friends in their country of origin. This survey was funded by American Political Science Association’s Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant 2021-2023.

I am also interested in civil conflict, and my research in this area has looked at the effects of climate change and natural disasters as well as national identity and collective action. This research has been published in Journal of Peace Research, Economics of Disasters and Climate Change, and Journal of Contemporary Central and Eastern Europe.

As a graduate student and postdoc, I have taught multiple undergraduate courses in International Relations and Comparative Politics.

Prior to enrolling at UNLV, I earned an MA in Political Science at the University of Toronto. I was also a journalist and digital content producer at Gulf News, the largest English-language newspaper the United Arab Emirates, and worked as a writer, editor, and content consultant for a wide range of publications and clients in the United States. I continue to teach online classes in writing and digital content via Skillshare.
